Do you exhibit the 7 traits of truly inspiring leaders
I’ve been fortunate in my career to work with some truly inspirational leaders, who have shared their wisdom and knowledge with me. Their styles may have varied, but an article at Inc. listed seven key traits that I saw within them and their approach to work;
- Purpose
- Giving back
- Gratitude
- Beliefs & values
- Empathy
- Team focus
- Energy
I’ve also had the (mis)fortune to work with some leaders who have exhibited only one or two of these traits and this taught me a valuable lesson on what skills I should never exhibit.
With the teams I’ve led, I’ve always tried to develop an open culture that allows them to give feedback on my shortcomings with regards to similar points above - this is sometimes uncomfortable for leaders to hear, but helps understand where the team needs guidance and support to be become high performing. Openness and honesty within a team is also a key trait that is also something often overlooked.
